Arsenal striker and potential Juventus transfer target Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has suffered heart problems after contracting Covid-19 at the Africa Cup of Nations.
The Gabon international missed his country’s opening fixture and will now have to sit out their second game after a medical assessment picked a heart condition.
The Gabon Football Federation made the announcement (via Gazzetta dello Sport) that their medical team will have to make further examinations before giving the player the green-light to resume playing.
This will come as a huge blow for Aubameyang, who was hoping to use the AFCON tournament to re-launch his club career having been dropped by his club side and stripped of the captaincy following a disciplinary breach.
The 32-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Juventus in the current window with The Gunners understood to have been prepared to send the player out on-loan for the rest of the season.
Former Bianconeri midfielder Mario Lemina has also suffered with the same problem following a Covid-19 outbreak in the Gabon squad.
