Juventus suffered a 2-1 defeat at the Allianz Stadium this evening against Benfica, a result that significantly jeopardizes their Champions League ambitions this season. Despite an early goal from forward Arkadiusz Milik, the Portuguese side mounted a comeback to secure all three points. After the match, Juventus captain Leonardo Bonucci shared his thoughts with Amazon Prime Video:
« The fans have every right to jeer us; there’s nothing to argue about there.
« We lost a game we absolutely should not have lost. The jeers are completely fair. As captain, I must take responsibility. We’re in a period where we’re struggling to do anything right. »
Juventus have managed to win only two of their seven competitive matches so far this season. Bonucci didn’t shy away from expressing his concerns:
« I am worried; there’s no denying it. We have this tendency to lose focus during matches, and I don’t know why it happens. That’s what worries me the most.
« We lack consistency throughout a game. Right now, we just have to keep quiet and work hard. This situation needs to change. We have many players out injured, so the same ones keep playing, and the fatigue is building up. »
