Capello: ‘De Ligt can improve under Allegri’

Former Juventus coach Fabio Capello is not concerned with Matthijs de Ligt’s progress at Juventus and believes he is ‘in good hands’ with Massimiliano Allegri.

De Ligt joined the Bianconeri from Ajax in 2019, just months after having knocked out Massimiliano Allegri’s Juventus from the Champions League quarter-finals.

His high price tag has always brought pressure and, sometimes, criticism for the Dutch centre-back, but Capello is confident the Netherlands international can develop under Allegri.

“He can’t be questioned, he has enormous potential and is still very young,” Capello told Tuttosport.

“Allegri will be a very important coach for him. ”

De Ligt is under contract with Juventus until 2024 and is expected to follow the footsteps of Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio Chiellini at Juventus.
