Chelsea are reportedly willing to splash €70m for the signature of Juventus’ Dutch defender Matthijs De Ligt.
De Ligt has been one of the Bianconeri’s key players this season under Massimiliano Allegri’s tenure. The defender still has a contract until 2024 but his future in Turin remains in doubt.
Juventus want to extend his deal but De Ligt will only accept if they would lower his current release clause. The defender’s positive performance continues to attract suitors, notably Premier League side, Chelsea.
The Blues are able to operate again after the problems regarding their ownership has been solved. As reported by Sport Mediaset(via TuttoJuve), De Ligt could now be one of Chelsea’s targets under new ownership.
Thomas Tuchel’s side are willing to offer €70m for the former Ajax star’s signature next summer. That amount is still lower than his €125m which will kick start in the summer transfer window.
Nevertheless, it’s still big money that might be worth considering for Juve, especially with their difficult economic situation.
