Chelsea are reportedly intensifying their efforts to sign Matthijs de Ligt from Juventus, with a new meeting between the two clubs expected soon.
The Blues have identified the Dutch defender as a priority target for the 2022-23 season. According to Goal.com journalist Romeo Agresti, representatives from both clubs are set to hold a virtual meeting on Tuesday or Wednesday to discuss the potential transfer.
Chelsea are reportedly willing to include Timo Werner or Christian Pulisic in a €40m deal to secure De Ligt. While Juventus are interested in Werner, they value the defender at a higher price and are seeking more than €40m for his transfer.
As per Sky Sport Italia, Juventus might consider selling De Ligt for €70m plus Werner. Alternatively, they would require a straight cash offer of no less than €100m to part ways with the Netherlands international.
De Ligt’s contract with Juventus runs until June 2024 and includes a €125m release clause that becomes active this summer, adding complexity to the negotiations.
