Chiellini: « National team achievements outweigh Juventus successes »

Juventus legend Giorgio Chiellini has revealed that his accomplishments with the Italian national team hold greater significance for him than his successes with the Bianconeri.

Set to leave Juventus this summer on a free transfer, Chiellini bid farewell to the club during his final home game against Lazio. Reflecting on his illustrious career, he acknowledged that winning the UEFA European Championship with Italy stands above his numerous achievements at Juve.

Speaking during an Instagram Live session with the Niccolini Palli State Institute of Higher Education (via Calciomercato), the veteran defender explained:

« On the pitch, winning the European Championship was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The national team triumph surpasses Juve, despite all the love and respect I have for the club. It united the entire nation, bringing joy after Covid and 37 years of waiting. I never imagined I would achieve that. »

Chiellini also touched on his future plans, saying:

« I’ve been reflecting for weeks. I’d like to have an experience abroad, but I need to weigh the pros and cons—leaving Turin, relocating my family with young children. I’m still in the decision-making phase and keeping my options open. »

During his illustrious career with Juventus, Chiellini lifted 20 trophies, reached two Champions League finals, and became a symbol of resilience for both club and country.
