Juventus legends Alessandro Del Piero and Claudio Marchisio shared their opinion regarding the Old Lady’s defeat to Benfica.
The Bianconeri are under immense pressure following another defeat in the UCL this midweek. After losing their opening fixture against PSG, Juve found themselves going 2-1 down to Benfica at Allianz Stadium.
That result somewhat highlights the Old Lady’s disappointing form in this early stage of the season. Massimiliano Allegri’s men so far have only managed to grab two victories from eight matches across all competitions.
Their disappointing loss against Benfica also attracted the attention of many football enthusiasts, including their former players. Two club legends, Alessandro Del Piero and Claudio Marchisio also share their opinion regarding that defeat.
Commenting on the game at Sky Sport, Del Piero believes that Juve must immediately have an internal confrontation to figure things out. The former striker also believes injuries have been an issue for the Bianconeri’s disappointing form.
Meanwhile, Marchisio claims that Juve’s problem is down to physical and mental tiredness. The ex-midfielder believes there are too many individual plays on the pitch, which eventually tired them more.
Del Piero on Juventus loss to Benfica:
“It’s not an easy moment for Juventus. They must have an internal confrontation to understand the long and short-term issues,” Del Piero revealed (via Football Italia).
“We should not forget about injuries, we’d see a different Juve without all those players out.”
Marchisio on Juventus’ defeat to Benfica:
“Bonucci spoke about physical and mental tiredness. Players looked confused, also without the ball,” Marchisio explained.
“There are many single plays and this brings to tiredness. Danilo and McKennie were exhausted tonight.”
