Juventus coach Massimo Allegri’s former mentor Giovanni Galeone, has pulled no punches when asked about the Bianconeri’s current situation.
Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Galeone left no stone unturned when asked his opinion of what condition the club was in right now.
Following on from Wednesday’s Supercup loss to Inter, Galeone declared;
“Juventus needs rebuilding. We need a completely different team. It will take two or three years, on the other hand, Allegri has a four-year contract, I imagine that the coach was aware of the situation.
” We need to recreate the work done by (Beppe) Marotta when Allegri arrived in Turin for the first time. Great champions such as Khedira, Mandzukic and Dani Alves were acquired.”
With reports now suggesting Paolo Dybala may not stay in Turin beyond the summer, Galeone explained that;
“What is happening is not Dybala’s fault, but he is not a leader and has not made the leap in quality that was expected. It’s a mental and physical issue, he has had so many injuries.
“From a Juventus number 10, more is expected. Think about Platini or Del Piero. Surely playing in a technically poor team does not help him. Dybala could be valuable behind the striker in 4-2-3-1.
“With Sarri he had a great championship, with Pirlo no.”
The injury to Federico Chiesa has been a huge loss to Allegri’s side, but Galeone had this word of warning to Juventus fans;
“In my opinion Chiesa too could also leave if another club offers 50-60 million: sometimes it can be hard to take, other times it is confusing”.
Finally, what did he consider to be Juve’s goals for the season?
“In the league, only fourth place. Recently Juventus has found a certain continuity of results and Napoli has had many problems.
“Next month will be decisive. In the Champions League Max is experienced and against Villarreal he should go through. Finally, there is the Coppa Italia, which is a great goal, but it won’t be easy to win”.
