How Juventus can still win their Champions League group

Juventus’ shot to finish top of their Champions League group is not completely over even after their disappointing defeat from Chelsea.

The Bianconeri already secured their place in the last 16 of UCL even before their Tuesday clash against the Blues. However, Massimiliano Allegri’s men are still battling for that number one sport.

Juve’s 4-0 loss from Chelsea are now putting Allegri’s side sitting second in their group behind Thomas Tuchel’s team. However, they are still level on points as the Bianconeri did win their first meeting 1-0.

Considering both sides are tied on points, the Old Lady’s chance in finishing top is still alive. It won’t be easy as everything will still depend on Chelsea’s result as they are ahead in the standings.

The Blues have a better goal difference and head-to-head matchup so Juve’s mission will be very difficult. In order to finish as the group winner, the Bianconeri must better any result that Chelsea picked up.

Tuchel’s men will travel to Russia and face Zenit on their final group game while Juve host Malmo. On paper, the Bianconeri have an easier job as their Swedish opponent have lost all of their UCL matches so far.

Unfortunately, Zenit also don’t have much to play for either as they have already secured their place in Europa League. Naturally, if Chelsea pick up all three points any results that Juve get against Malmo won’t matter.

The Bianconeri’s chance will emerge if somehow The Blues failed to grab all three points on that final group fixture on December 8.
