Image: Nicolo Zaniolo interacts with Juve legend Del Piero on social media

Roma starlet Nicolo Zaniolo expressed his gratitude to Juventus legend Alessandro Del Piero, who congratulated him and Roma on their UEFA Conference League triumph.

The Giallorossi secured the inaugural Conference League trophy with a 1-0 victory over Feyenoord on Wednesday, with Zaniolo emerging as the hero thanks to his decisive first-half goal. The Italian international, who is also a transfer target for Juventus, received numerous congratulatory messages after the match, including one from Del Piero.

The Juventus legend praised Roma and tagged Zaniolo in his message, adding a playful emoji. In response, the 22-year-old shared the post on his Instagram story, writing “Idol” alongside a series of humorous emojis.

Interestingly, Zaniolo matched Del Piero’s record as the youngest Italian player to score in a European final. Del Piero achieved this feat in 1997 during Juventus’ Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund.

While Zaniolo remains on Juventus’ radar as a potential addition to their squad next season, securing a deal will be challenging. Roma are keen to extend his contract and have reportedly set an asking price of €60 million to €70 million for any potential transfer.
