Image: Nicolo Zaniolo interacts with Juve legend Del Piero on social media

Roma starlet Nicolo Zaniolo has thanked Juventus legend Alessandro Del Piero who congratulated him and Roma on their Conference League victory.

The Giallorossi successfully lifted the inaugural UEFA Conference League trophy after beating Feyenoord 1-0 on Wednesday. Roma star and Juventus target, Zaniolo was the hero for the capital side with his first-half goal.

After the match, the Italian international receives plenty of congratulatory messages, including one from Del Piero. The Bianconeri legend congratulates Roma while tagging Zaniolo while adding a funny emoticon.

The 22-year-old reacted to that message by writing ‘Idol’ plus funny emoticons on his Insta story. Apparently, Zaniolo equals Del Piero’s record as the youngest Italian player who scored in a European competition final.

Del Piero did it in 1997 during Juventus’ Champions League clash against Borussia Dortmund.

Zaniolo is one of Juve’s targets to improve their squad next season but a deal remains difficult for now. Roma want to extend his deal and will only consider selling for a fee around €60m to €70m.
