Ex-Juventus star Claudio Marchisio gives his support to the Bianconeri following their Coppa Italia defeat to Inter.
Massimiliano Allegri’s side saw their final shot at lifting a trophy this season vanish on Wednesday. Juve’s ambition to win another Coppa Italia title fell short as they were beaten 4-2 by Inter after extra time.
That defeat means that it’s the first time Juve failed to win any titles since the 2010/2011 season. Despite not being happy with the result, the Bianconeri’s former star, Marchisio remains supportive of the team.
“It was since 2010/2011 that #Juve hadn’t lifted a trophy in a single season,” Marchisio wrote on Twitter.
“They did it for many, many years. Until another team managed to do what Juventus did for so long, only then I can accept certain comments.”
The former midfielder went on to congratulate Inter while admitting that they were a stronger side than Juve.
“Having said that, congratulations to Inter for deserving this final,” the ex-midfielder said.
“They are certainly a more superior team than my Juve. There will be better times but our dark years are shorter than others.”
