Weston McKennie could challenge Nicolo Fagioli for the starting position in Juventus’ Serie A opener against Sassuolo.

The injury to Paul Pogba somewhat changes Massimiliano Allegri’s plan for the clash against Sassuolo as he won’t be able to play the Frenchman. However, there’s positive news arriving for Allegri ahead of that opening fixture, as Weston McKennie could return.
The American international was initially in doubt to play on Monday after picking up a shoulder injury during their pre-season training. However, McKennie’s recovery process has been faster than expected.
According to Tuttosport, the ex-Schalke man won’t only be available for a call-up but he could even start on Monday.
McKennie has already returned to training with Juve’s first team and completed the whole session. If there’s no setback, the American will be battling for that starting spot role with Nicolo Fagioli.
