Juventus are in Rome this evening to take on rivals Inter Milan in the Coppa Italia final. The match, hosted at the Stadio Olimpico, will see both sides try and claim the prestigious trophy. These two sides met in the Supercoppa Italiana this season – in which Inter lifted the trophy – so Massimiliano Allegri’s Juventus are out for revenge. Speaking before the match, Juventus vice-president and former player Pavel Nedved gave a few words to Sport Mediaset.
When it comes to selection, Nedved said: “the coach decides by watching the training sessions who is in the best shape.”
Nedved then commented on Allegri’s comments that success tonight would be a huge success for the season, “I agree, because let’s say we have achieved Champions League qualification pretty easily and are very happy. This is the second target, reaching the Final, and clearly we want to get back to winning more in the near future.”
Nedved was, of course, asked about the future of forward Paulo Dybala – who may have his final chance to win silverware for the Bianconeri tonight – as he seems to be leaving in the summer on a free. Nedved told the interviewer that “We evaluated the player in all areas, what he gives us on and off the field, looking at the contribution 360 degrees. Obviously, his requests were very high, as is fair because he’s a great player, we didn’t feel prepared to do that, so it’s only right that we go our separate ways. That does not mean he’s not a great player.”
Nedved was also asked about Serbian forward Dusan Vlahovic, who is going through a poor run of form currently, to which the Czech legend said “Don’t forget the lad started very, very strong, he scored important goals, everyone was enthusiastic. I don’t think it’s just the weight of the shirt, but also fatigue, as he worked very hard in the first half of the season with Fiorentina and naturally is physically tired.”
“He is doing well and we are very happy with him.”
