Official: Bayern Munich complete De Ligt signing from Juventus

Bayern Munich has officially announced the signing of Matthijs De Ligt from Juventus for a reported fee of €80 million, including bonuses.

The Dutch international has been unveiled as Bayern’s latest summer acquisition, signing a contract that runs until 2027. Bayern is said to have paid €70 million upfront, with an additional €10 million in potential bonuses, to secure the defender from Juventus.

De Ligt chose to leave Juventus this summer despite being under contract until 2024. He declined to extend his deal with the Turin club and requested a transfer weeks ago.

Bayern faced competition from Chelsea, who were also keen on signing De Ligt. However, the player ultimately opted to join the Bundesliga giants over the Premier League side.

At Bayern, De Ligt will wear the number 4 jersey, the same number he donned during his time with Juventus.

Juventus moved quickly to replace the Dutch defender, securing the signing of Torino star Gleison Bremer shortly after De Ligt’s departure.
