Andrea Pirlo’s son sparked controversy on Twitter with a comment suggesting that the current Juventus team is no better than last season’s squad, which his father coached. However, shortly after, he deleted his account.
The teenager expressed his belief that Juventus played better football under his father’s management. His remarks came during the second leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final against Fiorentina. Despite Juventus winning 2-0 and securing a spot in the final, Nicolo Pirlo was unimpressed. He tweeted:
« The fact remains that last year’s Juve were much better. Am I wrong about that too? »
He later clarified that his criticism was directed at the style of play and not the team itself.
The situation escalated further when Nicolo claimed on Instagram that the controversial Twitter account was fake and not managed by him, despite having promoted the account on the same platform days earlier. Evidence supporting the account’s authenticity emerged when it was deactivated shortly after the backlash.
Andrea Pirlo managed Juventus for a single season in 2020-21, during which he won the Coppa Italia and the Supercup before being dismissed.
Currently, Juventus sit 4th in Serie A, 8 points behind leaders AC Milan and 5 points clear of 5th-placed Roma, with just five games left in the season.
