Watch: Giovinco returns to Juventus as academy coach

Sebastian Giovinco returns to Juventus on Thursday but not as a player as he will be their academy coach in Toronto.

The 35-year-old left the Bianconeri permanently in 2015, opting to join MLS side Toronto FC. He was struggling to get regular playing time at Juventus so a move away from Turin was the best option at the time.

His decision to join Toronto can be considered a success as he becomes one of the stars of MLS during his time there. Although Giovinco ended up leaving the Canadian-based club in 2019, he still has plenty of affection for the city.

Last January, Giovinco made his return to Serie A as he joined Sampdoria but only played two games there before eventually leaving in June. Now, the attacking midfielder returned to Juventus but not as a player for Massimiliano Allegri’s side.

Giovinco returns to Continassa on Thursday and is set to be part of the club’s academy in Toronto. The creative midfielder met with Juve’s president Andrea Agnelli and is looking forward to helping them develop young talents.
