Zanetti plays down Dybala link, talks Perisic’s future amid Juve interest

Inter vice president Javier Zanetti has downplayed rumors linking the club with Juventus striker Paulo Dybala while providing updates on Ivan Perisic’s contract situation, amid growing interest from Juventus.

The Nerazzurri have been rumored to target Dybala as a marquee signing for next summer, with multiple Italian reports suggesting that an agreement is close. However, both Inter and Dybala have refrained from confirming that negotiations are underway.

Speaking at a charity event at San Siro, Zanetti, who recently spoke with Dybala, denied that their conversation involved any transfer talks. The former full-back described their interaction as casual and friendly rather than professional.

“We talked because we are friends. I consider him a great player and a great person,” Zanetti explained (via ilbianconero.com).
“There is time for everything. Surely, [Inter directors] Ausilio and Baccin will do their best to strengthen our team.”

In addition to addressing the Dybala rumors, Zanetti shared insights about Ivan Perisic, whose contract with Inter expires next summer. Perisic has been linked with Juventus in recent weeks, but Zanetti confirmed ongoing discussions with the Croatian winger’s entourage.

“He [Perisic] had a great season; he was very positive for us,” Zanetti said.
“Our intention to keep him has always been clear. We’ve been talking since November.”

However, the decision ultimately lies with Perisic.

“Now, he has to decide whether to continue with us or not,” Zanetti revealed.

Recent reports indicate that Inter have held talks with Perisic’s representatives, as the club aims to secure his future amidst strong interest from their Serie A rivals.
